Photography & Photo Manipulation

One of the most memorable projects to date, this piece was brought to life with the help of a very dedicated assistant, the nephew. Who was generously paid in chocolate chips...
Inspired by the album cover Out of Body by Needtobreathe, the process involved capturing photos of the subject. While not a photographer on par with Jeremy Cowart, who shot the original album cover, some Photoshop skills were used to help layer the images to the final result.

Originally, the nephew's shirt was white, and not the blue seen in the final image. The goal was to match the album cover as closely as possible, but the white ended up looking like *chef’s kiss*. Embracing that, using Photoshop to give the image the rich, painterly feel of a renaissance painting. No AI was involved at any stage of the process. Seriously though... LOOK AT THOSE CURLS!!!

A sneak peek of the layers used in Photoshop. Jeremy Cowart is so skilled that he captured the album cover in one image (using multiple exposures). I am, however, not that skilled, and it's different working with a kiddo. If you want to see the image that directly inspired this project. CLICK HERE
